Interview With Bronx Underground Band Less Than Normal

Enfluencespot: Hey guys!

Less Than Normal: Hey!

Enfluencespot: So first things first...who is Less than normal?

Less Than Normal: We're just four best friends trying to have fun and play music. We take what we do serious but if it wasn’t any fun to play and do what we do then we wouldn't do it. The band members are Frankie, Chris, Angel, and Edgar.

Enfluencespot: That's great. So what do you consider to be music and what other bands have inspired you guys? Who has helped you become the band you are today?

Less Than Normal: Saying what music is has become such a cliché' like saying things like music is a freedom to express ones self and for us I guess we say the same. As much as people say it, it's really true as for influences, we all have completely different influences, Chris loves radio-head and cold play and Edgar really loves as I lay dying and hardcore music so as a band we have a wide range of influences.

Enfluencespot: Where are you guys from? Hometown?

Less Than Normal: New York City, all over N.Y.C.

Enfluencespot: The name less than normal is pretty self-explanatory so I won't ask what it means...but who came up with that name?

Less Than Normal: I (Frankie) came up with the name one night with our former guitarist. It was about 5 years ago and I was like 15. We really needed a name and that one just popped in my head, we were almost called No brakes or the Nobodies.

Enfluencespot: How would you rate yourselves as a band?

Less Than Normal: In terms of?

Enfluencespot: Style, spunk, individuality?

Less Than Normal: We're pretty diverse. If you look at us as a collective, we don't look like your typical scene band or whatever you want to call it. We do what we want, wear what we want, and we don't ever try to follow and guidelines for what a band has to be in terms of looks or style

Enfluencespot: So in other words you guys do not believe in labels.

Less Than Normal: Yeah we believe that people should just be themselves and not follow the rules that a scene or mainstream media puts out there for people

Enfluencespot: Do you guys have any hobbies, If so what are they?

Less Than Normal: As a band we love baseball so whenever we get to play it makes us smile. Other then that music is really the only thing we do besides have fun with our friends and party.

Enfluencespot: How often do you guys perform and where?

Less Than Normal: Ok here’s where the interview gets fun we haven't played much lately for a reason, I’ll explain.

Enfluencespot: Ok sure

Less Than Normal: At the beginning of 2007 we had major plans to play many shows, tour, and release a CD but we lost pretty much everything due to family issues.

Enfluencespot: Oh its...normal to have setbacks

Less Than Normal: We lost our van, our money; pretty much we had nothing after we were gaining a ton of exposure in the scene.

Enfluencespot: Things happen so what do you think it will take to bring the band back to life?

Less Than Normal: Right now we're on the verge of getting back out there in a big way. 1scene in the Bronx helped us big time, they gave us shows in the Bronx where the scene is at an all time high and exposed us. Our last show we got so much love and a little buzz that we were able to get our heads back in this and do what we need to do. We're playing 1scene again October 5th and hope to have merch by then. Then we're playing FLC, which is huge, and we're releasing our debut CD. Its gonna be a serious time for us coming up.

Enfluencespot: So is there anything you would like to say to the readers of The Enfluencespot Entertainment Digest?

Less Than Normal: All I can say is thank you, thank you to all the people who have shown us love, 1scene rocks, and we won't disappoint anyone with our CD release we promise to put everything we have into it and not let anyone down.

Enfluencespot: Thank you.

Less than Normal: No Problem.
